Battersea Power Station is a decommissioned coal-fired power station located on the south bank of the River Thames and comprises two individual power stations. Although the station ceased generating electricity in 1983, it has become one of the best known, iconic landmarks in London. The station is the largest brick building in Europe and is notable for its original, lavish Art Deco interior fittings and décor. It has been featured in or used as a shooting location for many films, television programmes, music videos and video games. Development of the site and renovations of the power station are planned in the near future to bring the location back into everyday use. Battersea Power Station is proud to be the chosen venue for the first EcoVelocity event.
