Top regions

  • 1 in 20 cars registered in the South East of the United Kingdom are green cars [according to figures released by EcoVelocity]; the region continues to lead the way in terms of eco vehicles and has by far and away the most EV charging stations of any region in the country
  • The south-east is still the UK’s most greenest region but Yorkshire and Humberside came a close second; the region ranked 2nd in the country for percentage of green registrations, 4th for hybrid vehicle purchase intention, and 1st for pollution concern
  • East Anglia is the UK’s up and coming green region; the region ranks third in the country for green vehicle registrations, third for hybrid car purchase intention, and fourth highest in EcoVelocity’s table of regional charge points.

Interesting contrasts

  • Northern England has the second highest number of charge points in the United Kingdom [and ranks second in terms of car pollution concern] but the lowest number of green vehicle registrations, suggesting that the movement towards electric cars in the north of the country has failed to become a mass movement
  • Yorkshire & Humberside has the second highest number of green vehicle registrations but only has five EV charge-points
  • East Anglian citizens are among the least concerned about car pollution in the UK and yet the region has one of the highest rates of green car registration and the third most charge points in the country

From the map

  • The UK’s northernmost charge point is on the Isle of Lewis off the coast of Scotland, as shown on the above map of the nation’s charge points commissioned EcoVelocity; the location of the point means that UK drivers can now make it from X to Y using only electric power
