EEMS Accelerate

EEMS Accelerate is a consortium of organisations including AEA, Delta Motorsport, Ecotricity, Lightning Car Company, Westfield Sportscars and Green Motion. The consortium is one of eight that have been chosen for part-funding by the government’s Technology Strategy Board under their Ultra Low Carbon Vehicle Demonstrator Competition.

The aims of the EEMS Accelerate programme are to showcase electric vehicles with high performance and low emissions using cutting edge British design and engineering; to motivate British industry to pursue further research and development in electric vehicles and to challenge the preconceptions of electric vehicles held by the general public, motorsport enthusiasts and specialists.

These are tomorrow’s cars today.

Delta E-4 Coupe
The Delta E-4 is a two door, four seat coupe designed and built in Britain by Silverstone based Engineering Consultancy Delta Motorsport. By applying the fundamental motorsport principles of minimizing weight, optimizing aerodynamics and maximising mechanical efficiency, Delta have been able to produce an all-new battery electric car that delivers a phenomenal performance and handling experience. The car has also been package protected for hybrid conversion either using a Hydrogen fuel cell or onboard generator. The E-4 Coupe is available in two or four wheel drive with a battery pack tailored in size to suit your typical drive cycle and performance requirements, the car has a top speed of 150mph and a range of 200 miles. Nemesis
The Nemesis is the result of nearly two years’ hard work by an ‘A-team’ of ex-motorsport engineers resulting in a car that is faster than a V12 Ferrari, does 0-100mph in 8.5 seconds and has a top speed of 170mph. All powered entirely from the wind. The ultimate in sustainability – a car that’s fast, great to look at and fabulous to drive – all with zero emissions.

Lightning GT
The Lightning GT is produced in Britain by The Lightning Car Company, a proven engineering company of automotive experts in many disciplines; car creation, design, build and automotive technology integration. The Lightning has been created to provide discerning drivers with the ultimate all electric supercar with a 300kw onboard power-train and Lithium Titanate batteries for a usable range of over 150 miles, fast recharge and long life of over 10,000 cycles. Performance will be impressive with a very rapid 0-60mph and instant, seamless surge for dramatic mid-range acceleration. The Lightning GT will be available in a bespoke range of colours and specifications for deliveries commencing in early 2013. For more information please visit our website at www.lightningcarcompany.co.uk

Westfield Sport-E
Sport-E development started in 2009, picking up on work done on the Westfield i-RACER car. Whilst the vehicle architecture has remained the same, new battery systems, electrical systems and a different motor and controller have been adopted for the vehicles built in the programme. The cars will provide valuable data on these revised systems and their applicability for a production version of the vehicle. They will also be used to assess driver reaction and market perception. The biggest challenge with the SPORT-E vehicles is packaging the batteries, 340kg into a small car which weighs only 420kg (without batteries).
