A diesel-electric hybrid Range Rover could go on sale in 2014. The plug-in 4×4 powertrain is currently being tested in the Range Rover Sport. Bosses say the model, called the Range-e, will achieve an average of 85mpg and 89g/km of CO2 – meaning no road tax, no London Congestion charge and lower company car tax. The new Range Rover is pencilled in for 2013 with the hybrid expecting to follow a year later.
